Vitamin D3 Increases Survival Rate In Older Women

Recent studies have shown that older women can benefit from taking vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) by increasing their survival rate. Many older women are vitamin D deficient, which makes them more prone to breaking and fracturing bones from falling down. An international team of researchers preformed over 50 studies with over 94,148 participants. The average age of these participants was seventy-four years old, and seventy-four percent of them were women. The studies revealed that vitamin D3 reduces the mortality rate in woman by almost six percent.

The studies showed that the other D vitamins such as D2 showed that there were no real benefits in women or men, however, there have not been many studies done on the effects of the other D vitamins. The studies did show that vitamin D3 taken along with calcium increased the risk of kidney stones.

People who are vitamin D deficient are more likely to develop such diseases as Depression, Cancer, Osteoporosis, Tooth Loss, High Cholesterol, Chronic Pain, Allergies, Type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease, Lupus, and even Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis.

Much more research is needed to find out why vitamin D3 reduced mortality rates in older women, and the many possible reasons why vitamin D3 seems to help women live longer.
